Awards and Collegiate ScholarshipsYearly or Endowed
Since the 1950s, SWE has been supporting the aspirations of women to pursue engineering careers through scholarships. Today, SWE nationally awards more than $700,000 in scholarships to women engineering students.  Organizations can decide the amount for each scholarship and exact criteria for eligible students.

The goals of the SWE Collegiate Scholarship Program are to:

  • Identify and financially support outstanding women in their pursuit of an engineering degree.
  • Promote the opportunities offered to women in engineering careers by promoting the scholarship program to high school students.
  • Address the critical, ever-growing need to fill the engineering and technology pipeline, especially with women and under-represented minorities.

The minimum amount for any scholarship is $1,000. While SWE can distribute any amount over $1,000 in scholarship funding, the typical individual scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $5,000. A 10% administrative fee is charged to all scholarships.

Awards

The Society of Women Engineers strives to advance and honor the contributions of women at all stages of their careers as well as recognize the successes of SWE members and individuals who enhance the engineering profession through contributions to industry, education and the community. SWE offers many ways for your organization to commemorate outstanding achievement and to support women in engineering and technology. Sponsoring a SWE Award is one of them. Your organization can sponsor for one year or endow an award for all future years like the Suzanne Jenniches Upward Mobility Award endowed by her employer Northrop Grumman Corporation. Click here to see a full list of possible awards. With your sponsorship, your organization will be recognized at SWE’s Annual Conference, the largest conference for women engineers and technologists.
